Rockhopping

One of my passions is walking in the woods.

What makes a good walk a great walk is coming across a babbling creek.

I get a great sense of pleasure from finding a way across the creek without getting my feet wet.

From the shore, all of the rocks look like good options.

But a seasoned hiker knows you can't trust the way the rocks look.

You have to put a tentative foot out, lean a bit of your weight on it, and test the rock's stability.

Sometimes the rock's base is solid, and you can move forward... sometimes it's not, and you need to choose another path.

That alternative path occasionally requires backtracking.

It's not always fast, and it is not always easy, but it is always satisfying when you reach the other shore.

Running a business is so much like rockhopping.

If you're struggling right now, it means you're trying to get to the next shoreline. That's the whole point of the work. Moving forward down the path.
