Your Inner Strength
“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
A. A. Milne
No matter where you are, or what your circumstances, if you are reading this you are okay.
What happened to you as a child, or in a relationship; if you are on a tropical beach or in a prison cell, you are okay.
People who have experienced significant trauma tend to spend a lot of time “in their heads.” It makes perfect logical sense. It is a natural coping mechanism.
Fight or flight in a nature video looks different than in real modern life with humans. You may not be able to take off running to higher ground so to speak but you can do a deep into your thoughts of the past or worry about the future.
Reliving past experiences or contemplating traumatic future situations creates and maintains anxiety, depression and stunts your forward movement. It also prevents you from being able to be in the here and now.
Some may say that their “here and now” is depressing and causes anxiety.
I respectfully challenge that concept. Right here, right now as you read this, in this moment, you are breathing, blood is flowing, and bottom line…you are okay.
In this moment, regardless of the circumstances you are living in, you have everything you need. In this moment, you have enough of everything. It is only when you project forward or backward from now that you feel lack.
Becoming aware of how perfect this moment is opens you up to liberation and freedom. This leads to motivation and creativity.
The strength to keep on going is inside you. It is when you get caught in the past or future that you cannot access that strength.
This week, focus on being in the moment, working right now towards winning the day. Let the past go, let the future be your vision and take the very next step towards it.
