The Right Kind Of Freedom
Do you ever wonder why some people seem to effortlessly attract money, clients, happiness, free time and everything else they want?
It’s a question that has interested me for a very long time and I’m closer and closer to finding the answer.
One clue came in a conversation I had with a client last week.
As part of our strategic planning process, I ask clients to describe their perfect future for me. This particular client, Tom, said, “I want to be free.”
“Describe ‘free’ to me,”I replied.
“I want to be free from debt, free from needing to be at my office each day, and free from worry about whether we’re making enough money. Basically, I want to be free from worrying about anything.”
Tom was in debt, had a turnover problem with employees and seemed to have a new business problem every time he looked like things were on the way up.
Given the way his perfect future was described, it was no wonder.
I have studied the Law of Attraction extensively, and according to that law, whatever you think about, you attract. The law doesn’t understand negatives, so when you say you don’t want something, the law gives you that thing since it doesn’t understand the “don’t”.
In Tom’s case, he clearly talked about debt, being stuck in the office and worrying, and that is exactly what he was experiencing.
We spent a moment talking about the concept and Tom rephrased his ideal future to, “I want to have plenty of money coming in each month so that everything is paid automatically. There is lots of money left over for me to be free to travel and to spend time with my kids. I know there is always a constant stream of cash flowing into my business. I am free to leave whenever I want because I have a great team of employees who can run the shop without me. I can go away for weeks at a time and everything runs smoothly.”
Do you feel the difference in the two statements? Tom did. His face brightened, he sat up straighter and he was excited about his new future.
Oh, and guess what? In just a week, he found two huge new prospects (he was referred to both!) and he is making plans to hire a new assistant who looks to be the person who can clear out all the unnecessary items from his task list.
So what do you want to be FREE TO do?
Spend a few minutes each morning this week and think about that question. You’ll find that you’ll start attracting those things immediately.
