Some days feel overwhelming. When you look at all you want to accomplish and where you are now, it can feel like you'll never get there.

Even just winning the day can feel like an insurmountable task.

When you feel like that, it's really easy to stop moving forward and get distracted by "opportunities" or new ideas or just Facebook.

That's when you know it's time to do something different.

That's when it's time to get small and shake things up.

It's time to hide your to do list.

It's time to even hide your Daily Success Checklist.

It's time to do one teeny, tiny thing to get moving in a positive direction.

Maybe it's closing your entire browser, opening Word and writing one sentence of your next blog post with the understanding you can go back to Facebook when you've done that.

Or it's putting on your running shoes and running to the end of the street or driveway, telling yourself you can quit as soon as it's done.

Or perhaps it is calling just one old client and asking how he/she is doing and nothing else.

Notice none of those actions is going to drive massive results. They are just small actions that start your momentum.

Most times, that is all you need. Just a nudge, a push in the right direction to start you spiraling up instead of stalling.

Some times, after that small action, you'll find that you still want to quit. That is an indication that you are not emotionally connecting the larger actions with your highest ambitions.

If this happens this week, stop doing what you were doing. Go to a quiet place and ask yourself these questions:

  • What is one thing I really want to become?
  • How will I feel when I am that person? (spend a lot of time on this)
  • What does someone who is like that do when they get stuck?
  • What can I do right now to start moving in that direction?

This short exercise will help get you unstuck and reconnected to the energy of achievement. It will reengage the emotional parts of your brain that fire you up. It will connect you to the pull motivation and compel to you act from passion rather than force.
